From learning how to think to how Not to think

There was a time when I was deeply drawn to Edward de Bono’s books. I still remember reading Six Thinking Hats in a single sitting, and soon after, picking up every one of his titles I could find. That was a phase in my life devoted to learning how to think—a journey that helped me organize my thoughts and gain a deeper insight into the workings of the mind.

Yet, the very process of thinking about life through that lens gradually led me into a new phase—one where I’m now learning how not to think. While going through my bookshelf with my daughter recently, I noticed how the titles there reflect this inner shift.

As I explore spirituality more deeply, I’m beginning to sense something far greater that lies beyond thought—beyond the mind itself. That is the true Self, the timeless essence of who I am. To realize it, I must go beyond all thinking.

Ironically, it was far easier to learn how to think than to learn how not to think—though it is in that thoughtless stillness that our natural state truly resides.
